Adobe Photoshop
A graphic system that focuses on the product packaging and graphic elements to complement the brand identity. A warm colour palette, in combination with lines and shapes, is used to accentuate the simplicity of the brand.
Design Brief
Cherise is a product proposal tasked by a peer, Jasmine, who played the role of a client for this project. Cherise is a company that markets bullet journals, which are personalized notebooks that help you reflect, plan and keep your thoughts organized in written form. My job was to create a strong brand presence by designing a logo, a business card and a packaging mock-up for the product.
Research &
Brainstorming
In order to accurately represent the value of the brand, I had to understand my client’s goals and preferences. Jasmine has identified the targeted audience to be primarily females between ages 18-33. We aimed to brand the company around this demographic. She also requested to incorporate the colour, amber yellow (CMYK 0, 22, 82, 0) into the design.
Typeface Exploration
My goal was to create a unique style that would further elevate Cherise. Cherise means “Dear one”, or someone who is radiant and friendly. Amber yellow was a fitting colour that embodies cheerfulness and warmth. The colour palette I chose accented the vibrancy of yellow and induced joy.
Logo Ideation & Creation
After several rounds of rapid ideation and typeface exploration, I reconstructed a logo that symbolizes blossoms and growth. By moving away from rigid geometric shapes, the organic lines portray the movements of journaling and doodling. To make the brand more memorable, I included the company name as part of the logo. The hand-written font complements the hand-drawn illustration.
Business Card
The main hurdle was placing the required information on a single-sided card while keeping the content legible and minimalistic. It was crucial that the card retains the brand’s characteristics and professionalism. I incorporated some irregular shapes and wiggly lines to manifest a sense of movement and playfulness.
Package Design
Using Adobe Photoshop, I designed a mock-up rendering of the product package to help the client visualize the encased bullet journal. The logo is emphasized to enhance the brand identity. I also duplicated the logo and company name on the side of the box, so they are visible when the boxes are stacked on top of each other. The texture of the material elevates the quality of the package and retains the organic quality of the overall brand.
