A bit about me

Designer . Artist . Thinker

Hello, I’m Cindy. I am an interdisciplinary designer with a background in industrial design. The move to Canada from Taiwan when I was ten has granted me the chance to experience both cultures. This transition has taught me to never settle for comfort, and to perceive life with an open mind. I am extremely adaptive to different situations and environments and I thrive in chaos.

I believe that having the desire to learn is essential for growth, and learning goes beyond seeing things on the surface level. I am always inquisitive and in pursuit of new experiences. As a designer, my goal is to make the invisible, visible through creative questioning. I do not strive for immediate world-changing innovations, but rather take the initial steps to search for the right questions that will further invoke positive changes.

I am currently enrolled in the New Media Design & Web Development program at BCIT, where I am working on strengthening my skills in visual and UX/UI design. I plan to work and lead in a challenging environment that would fulfill both collaborative and personal goals. I aspire to join a team to search for innovative solutions, with compassion and transparency as the core values.

Let’s work together!

Open-Mindedness

Design has humbled my ego and helped me build profound curiosity for other viewpoints. Having an elastic mind is not only an essential mindset for collaborative work, it eliminates preconceived ideas and judgments, which impede creativity and meaningful connections.

Transparency

Design is powerful because it communicates ideas and prompts awareness. Therefore, cultivating a culture of transparency through honesty, exposure and inclusion are fundamental in maintaining a comfortable collaborative environment. I strive to make positive changes through responsible design practices, with ethics and integrity in mind.

Compassion

Designing with compassion means emotionally invest in how others feel and think by allowing them to voice their stories. We are constantly redefining relationships when we put ourselves in other people’s shoes. The embodiment of a shared experience further creates an opportunity for reflection and repair.

Curiosity

Having a desire to learn is essential to growth, and learning goes beyond seeing things on the surface level. As a designer, my goal is to make the invisible, visible while eradicating the boundary between pure whiteness and pitch blackness. Through creative questioning, I am eager to inspire change.
